Interpretation

Public institutions must be representative of the Australian community they serve if trust in them is to be maintained and grown. One indicator of adequate representation in politics, is the share of women parliamentarians.

  • state and territory.
Notes

Data are based on the composition at opening day of a new parliament following a federal election. Changes to the composition of the parliament due to by-elections will not be reflected in the numbers.
