Australia's young people 1999: their health and wellbeing is the first national report on the health status of young people aged 12-24 years in Australia. It provides comprehensive information from currently available data sources, and is the second in a series of reports on child and youth health. This report includes information on important diseases and injuries, major risk factors and wider determinants of health. Separate sections are presented on the health status of particular priority groups: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth, young people living in rural and remote locations, young people born overseas and those from socioeconomically disadvantaged groups. This report will be relevant to anyone interested in youth health, including health planners and administrators, community and hospital practitioners, academic researchers, and the general public.
