The Younger people with disability in residential aged care (YPIRAC) program was agreed by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) on 10 February 2006 with the aim of delivering sustained reductions in the number of younger people with disability in residential aged care.
The YPIRAC program operated under a 5-year agreement between the Australian Government and state and territory governments. The program was funded through the states and territories and administered by the Australian Government Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA).
The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) was contracted by FaHCSIA to develop a YPIRAC Minimum Data Set (MDS), and to complete the MDS over the 5-year collection periods. YPIRAC data collected concluded in 2010-11.
